Choosing a Fence for Dogs for National Pet Day

Tiny over here says, “Thanks for giving me a safe place to play outside, mom and dad!”

National Pet Day is coming up on Monday, April 11th, and we’re excited to celebrate our four-legged friends! Most of Hercules’ residential fence options will do the trick to give Fido a safe place to play and roam, with each offering a few different benefits. Here’s how you can help your hound with a fence for dogs.

Restricting Rover’s Roaming

An enclosed outdoor area is one of the greatest things on earth for a dog. (Aside from a nice big steak, that is.) Installing a fence will give your pup somewhere to run free and play, or simply sniff around and enjoy the fresh spring air. On the ownership side, you’ll feel great about keeping your dog safe from running away, and you get the added convenience of being able to just let ‘em out back to take care of business. Any of our fences will make a great fence for dogs, but plan ahead to block potential escape paths for a wily, adventurous pup. Make sure the fence is tall enough to prevent leaping to freedom, consider a concrete base to block any digging-out attempts, and don’t leave any vaulting points too close to let him climb up and out of your yard.

Shielding Spot’s Sight

There are two ways to take this one, and the answer depends on your individual dog. If your pup goes crazy and barks like mad at any passing person, dog, squirrel, or leaf in the wind, it might be a good idea to consider a wood privacy fence that will block his or her view. Not only will your yard be private from the prying eyes of passers-by, but passers-by will also be free from being startled by sudden barking.

On the other side of this coin, some dogs go just as crazy when they can’t see what’s going on outside. (We might know a dog or two who are like that.) If that’s the case, you can still keep Spot safe while still allowing him to see what’s going on by choosing something like an ornamental metal, vinyl, or chain link fence for dogs — anything with wider spaces between posts.

Choosing a fence for dogs makes a great gift for National Pet Day. Consider giving us a call to get started on installation, and toss your pup and extra treat from us on Monday!
