Functional Fencing, Part 2: How to Refresh Your Fence

Functional Fencing, Part 2: How to Refresh Your Fence

How can you make your functional fencing more attractive?

Now that you’ve installed your functional fence, how do you keep it looking beautiful? Whether it’s an old faithful or a brand new one, it’s not hard to rejuvenate your fence. Here are some ideas to consider using to refresh your fence. Don’t just settle, but go above and beyond!

Repaint Your Functional Fencing

When it comes to redecorating, refurbishing, or remodeling, paint is a brilliant idea. Not only is it a versatile option for indoor surfaces, but it’s also tremendous for outdoor ones, as well. Just by using a quick layer of paint, you can give your functional fencing some new life. It’s easy to do and inexpensive, as long as you follow manufacturer directions and select the right paint for your fencing.

Use Greenery

Next, try using some greenery. If your fence is worn-out, add some climbing plants and hedges. Maybe your chain link fence is looking down on its luck. Or the cinder blocks you use to help anchor your fence is showing and you don’t want the neighbors to spot them. So what should you do? Use vines, hedges, and flowers – you might find that hummingbirds are drawn to your fence by the sweet fragrance of all your new plants.

Add Flowers

Besides the various forms of greenery you can add, why not add some other flowers, too? Flower pots make an attractive exclamation point for your functional fencing. Before you hang up these flower pots, make sure your fence is sturdy enough to support them. For the most colorful touches, try adding scarlet or fuschia geraniums.

Experiment with Decorative Art

If painting and adding flowers isn’t enough, consider experimenting with some new decorative art. Decorative art is all the rage for interior decorating, but that doesn’t mean the inside of your home gets to have all the fun! Think about adding mosaics, wreaths, paintings, and recycled odds and ends from thrift shops or yard sales.

Turn Up the Lighting

Lastly, why not turn up the lighting? Outdoor lighting can make your landscape attractive, no matter the season. Welcome your guests at night, or give your next party a special feel. When choosing the best outdoor lighting, LED or solar-powered lights are going to be your best bets.
