Measuring Your Yard Before Installing a Brand New Fence

Measuring Your Yard Before Installing a Brand New Fence

Do you think you might need a brand new fence? If you do, then you should start by measuring the dimensions of your yard first!

Spring is almost here. The weather is warming up and you might want to take stock of the perimeter of your property. What does your perimeter fence look like? Do you think you might need a brand new fence? If you do, then you should start by measuring the dimensions of your yard first!

Confirm Property Lines

The first step is to confirm where your property lines are located. By doing this, you can be a good neighbor and avoid building anything in your neighbors’ yard without their permission. During this step, you should have a land survey completed. It’s always a good idea to know for sure you know where your property begins and ends. You can also determine how much fencing material you will need before you can proceed.

Find Utility Lines

The second step is to figure out where the utility lines serving your home are hidden. Part of this process involves engaging ground-penetrating-radar or GPR technology. Make sure you have documentation outlining where these are, and if you don’t contact the team at Hercules Fence today! We can help you determine where the utility lines are to be found and mark them off so they don’t interfere with the fence installation process.

Determine Yard Slope

The third step is to determine the slope of your yard. You don’t want your brand new fence to be crooked, because if it is, it might fall over more easily. Brand new fences shouldn’t collapse. The slope can affect how much fencing material you will need.

Measure the Fence Length

The fourth step is to measure how long the fence should be. If you aren’t sure how to do this, then don’t hesitate to get the professionals involved. All you need to do is use some stakes to outline where the fence goes, how big each panel should be, and even where the endpoints are!

Get Professional Help

The final step is to get professional help. Assembling and installing a brand new fence can be more complicated than you might expect and you will want to be sure that it is done right the first time out without any further adjustments. That’s where the experts come in, so give us a call or a click!
